What conveyancers actually do

The legal transfer is not optional, and it is not the same job as selling the house.

7 September 2026 · listedgroup · 1 min read

Whether you use a traditional agent, a platform, or a handwritten sign, someone licensed still moves the title. That person is usually a conveyancer or a property lawyer.

They deal with contract, deposits, special conditions, searches, and settlement. They are not there to get you a higher price. Confusing the two jobs is how people get surprised by fees.

Agentless selling does not remove this step. If a website implies otherwise, treat that as a story — and a warning.
